Hyperion Systems is a Perth-based advanced manufacturing company accelerating industries with large-format 3D printing and deployable manufacturing systems. Combining precision engineering, sustainable materials, and rapid deployment capabilities, Hyperion enables scalable production of large-format parts and structures without compromise. Its technology supports sectors from marine and construction to industrial applications, helping businesses move from concept to production quickly through innovative manufacturing solutions.

My Role

I worked with Hyperion Systems as an ongoing freelance photographer over a few years before joining the team in-house as a photographer and content creator, supporting marketing and communications.

My Responsibilities

  • Photography for marketing, documentation, and internal use

  • Team and workplace photography

  • Portrait photography, including executive and leadership imagery

  • Capturing large-format 3D printing processes and finished components

  • Project documentation across active manufacturing and R&D work

  • Creating video content for marketing and storytelling

  • Producing imagery aligned with technical, investor, and brand needs

  • Working closely with internal teams to understand projects and objectives

  • Documentation of team, technology, projects, and manufacturing processes

  • Transition from external freelance contributor to in-house content role

Reflection

Working with Hyperion Systems over time — both as a freelancer and in-house — has strengthened my ability to create content that aligns closely with business objectives. Gaining a hands-on understanding of large-format additive manufacturing and the company’s technology has allowed me to produce more informed, accurate, and purposeful visual work. The role expanded my skill set beyond pure photography into strategic content creation within a highly technical and fast-evolving industry.
